The Getting Hired To Do List
If you’re currently in the job market, you know that the whole process of getting hired can be tedious. But there are several things you can do to help increase your chances of getting hired. Here are just three things to add to your getting hired to do list:
- Have an error free resume that best highlights your unique skills and qualifications for the job you are applying for. Whether you’re creating your resume from scratch, or downloading it from The Resume Template Site, be sure that all your information is accurate and complete. If you’ve had long periods of unemployment, try using a functional or combination resume to highlight your strengths as opposed to your work history. If you’re a recent college graduate, use a resume like this one which highlights relevant coursework.
- Know your unique qualifications and abilities and determine what makes you stand out from other candidates applying for the same position. Emphasize these qualifications on your resume, in your cover letter, and during your interview. Your job during the interview is to convince the interviewer that you, and only you, are the best possible candidate to fill the position. Use the interview to show them that.
- Take a deep breath. You want to get hired and you want this job. To add to the stress, you may even have been looking for work for a long time. When you finally snag the interview (and you will), take a deep breath. Remind yourself that you are talented, capable, and that any employer would be lucky to have you.
Now go get that job!
